Subsection 5.3.2 Electromagnet
An electromagnet typically consists of a coil of wire, often wrapped around a ferromagnetic core, such as iron. When an electric current is passed through the coil, it creates a magnetic field around the core. This magnetic field can be used to attract or repel ferromagnetic materials. The strength of the magnetic field is directly proportional to the amount of current flowing through the coil. Electromagnets are used in a wide range of applications, including electric motors, generators, and audio speakers. They can also be used to create temporary or adjustable magnetic fields, making them useful in scientific and industrial settings.
